Hair transplant is possible even in people more than 60 years of age. Although many people are scared of this, there are a lot of people who opt for hair restoration even at this age. It is safe to do surgery at this age but the medical history of the patient is important. This surgery can be done even in diabetics as well as hypertensive patients provided their medical condition is under control.

Mr Anil Mehta was 62 at the time of surgery. He had thinning of hair throughout the scalp and recession of hairline. He is a very active person and a regular tennis player. We could do both FUT as well as FUE in his case. But as his donor hair was very thin, FUT was the method chosen. After a thorough discussion, we decided on 2000 FUT grafts.

Scarring is a major fear for many in case of FUT surgery. That was Mr. Mehta’s concern as well. But here we would like to highlight the fact that wound healing is better in old age. As you can see in the post op donor, there is no visible scarring in the donor because of trichophytic closure technique.

Pain was another concern of Mr Mehta, but there was hardly any pain. In the post-op pictures, you can see beautiful coverage of the bald area. The result looks absolutely natural, thanks to Satya’s mimic nature hairline.

Hair transplantation in patients more than 60 years of age is possible and we routinely perform these surgeries.
