How to deal with hair fall after delivery?

Are you experiencing hair fall soon after you have delivered your baby? If so, you do not have to experience sleepless nights for this as it is more common than you might think. Hair fall after delivery is one of the most common postpartum symptoms that women go through after they have delivered a baby.

During pregnancy, your body goes through a lot of hormonal changes. These hormones are responsible for the hair loss that you are experiencing. Your body produces high amounts of estrogen during pregnancy. The higher estrogen prevents the usual frequency of hair loss.

Your body generally lets some of your hair fall every single day. The speed of your hair loss reduces when you are pregnant. The situation is also further exacerbated by increased blood circulation and blood volume.

Therefore, when your baby arrives, it leads to a drop in your hormone levels, and you have much greater levels of hair fall after delivery than you were having just a few months ago when you were pregnant.

You are not experiencing more hair fall, but it seems that a lot of your hair is falling because you are simply making up for the time when you had little to no hair fall.

Postpartum hair fall can start any day once you have given birth to your baby. Sometimes this may go on for a year. Generally, it reaches a peak level around the 4-month mark.

Hence, if you see that your baby is now a few months old, but you are still losing hair, there is nothing to panic about for that.

Here are some handy tips that you can try out to deal with the hair fall issue.

  • Use shampoo with a conditioner. It will help add volume to your hair. Make sure that the shampoo has a lot of protein to boost hair fullness.
  • Avoid shampoos that weigh down your hair.
  • Always use a hair conditioner for hair.
  • Apply the hair conditioner mainly on the hair ends.
  • Do not use extremely heavy hair conditioners or intensive hair conditioners.
  • You can also try out a new hairstyle that goes well with your current hair level.
  • Do not apply a curling iron or a dryer to your hair.
  • Make sure you eat well. Include plenty of vegetables, fruits, and proteins in your diet that ensure hair growth.
  • Ask your doctor to prescribe some vitamin supplements that can be beneficial for you.

Following these guidelines can help you to deal with your hair loss in a better way.
